I just watched an interview of Michael Shackleford by Steve Bourie of American Casino Guide about winning on slot machines. I assumed it would be about 'banking' slot machines which to my knowledge are the only ones that can ever have a +EV, but instead it was just a discussion of how erasable programable ROM chips work. What a disappointment.

It's a dead issue. The banking machines in Vegas are all but gone. There were simply too many 'vultures' hanging around and swooping down on them when the bonuses got high enough. Fights broke out--ill will was generated.
There might be banking machines remaining in other casino jurisdictions, but I doubt it. I've run into 'vultures' in Colorado, Tunica, Kansas City, and the Mississippi coast. The Second Great Depression (now playing in a country near you!) increased people's desperation, and probably increased the number of vultures enough to give binusing slots a deathblow nationwide.
