About
The Wheel of Fortune board game is a fun-filled family game that will deliver a great board game experience for all. It was first released in 1975 and was designed by Merv Griffin.
This word type board game takes just an hour to play making it ideal for families to get together quickly and experience the excitement that it offers.
The game is suitable for 2-4 players although it is recommended that it is best played with 3 players.
Best Suited For Families
As a family game, it is ideal for children and adults. The game is fairly simple to play but it is also ideal for those who like to play a word associated game.
The Wheel of Fortune Board Game could be seen to be education and fun at the same time, making it an appealing game for the younger audience.
Skill – Complexity
Due to the way in which the game is suitable for players as young as eight, it is not particularly complex. Players are required to spin the wheel in order to identify the phrase or word. Therefore, this would be considered an easy game to play.
Set Up – Playing Rules & Instructions
The game consists of a wheel, a board that holds the letters of the chosen word or phrase as well as markers and cards.
Set up is very easy with the idea of the game being that players spin the wheel in order to have a chance of guessing the word. However, each spin of the wheel will either identify how much the guess is worth or it could lead to losing a turn or even being classed as bankrupt.
Players can guess consonants after they have spun the wheel but they have to pay to guess the vowels.
Players continue their turn until they make a wrong guess with the winner being identified as the one who has the most money following the end of the predetermined number of games.
Versions – Editions
Since the original was released in 1975, it has been released in a number of countries. A Lucky numbers edition was released in 1999 and this was considered to be the travel edition.
Likes & Dislikes
Players found that the Wheel of Fortune board game was a true representation of the TV game and that provided them with a familiarity that made the game enjoyable to play.
However, it was also found that once the game had been played several times it became possible to recognize past words and phrases that had already been used.
An issue buyers could have and people have already mentioned is that all the parts seem quite flimsy and cheap. However, this is often the case with $19.99 games.
One positive that parents found was that it made it possible for children to interact and learn how to identify words and phrases.
Final Thoughts
Clearly, this is a family game that has an educational twist on it. As it can be played by children of such a young age, it means that it is a great way to keep them occupied while providing families with the chance to play together.
Wheel Of Fortune Game Board Toys
It might become repetitive over time but there is no doubting that this game is simple to play yet a lot of fun at the same time.
While it may not be our first word or family game choice it still is worth adding to any game collection and it’s cheap enough at $19.99.
